Founding of SW
  • AnF first founded in 1952
  • In the 1980s SW was introduced
  • In 1995 the name of AnF was changed to SW
  • In 1996 SW as we know it today was born
  • Focus moved from military to civilian

Mission Objectives
  • Personal Development character growth through
    community service
  • Professional Development members are provided
    leadership opportunities
  • Civic Awareness personal awareness and promotion
    of aerospace power and national defense.

Classes of Membership
  • Active Membership Completed four requirements
    for membership and have paid all dues.
  • Inactive Membership Have completed four
    requirements for membership and paid dues but may
    not vote or hold offices.
  • Associate Membership Have not completed four
    requirements for membership and may not vote or
    hold office.

  • Alumni Membership Members of SW who have
    graduated from college.
  • Honorary Membership Highest tribute a SW
    chapter can extend. Honorary members are not
    charged dues and may not hold office or receive
    awards.

  • BOT consists of 15 permanent members .
  • Responsible for screening/hiring candidates for
    position of Executive Director, managing the
    retirement fund, evaluating the fiscal soundness
    of AAS and SW legislation and managing the
    Consolidated Programs Fund.

  • MIA over Laos Dec. 13th 1968
  • Taught Air Science at OSU and was in charge of
    Angel Flight
  • Served as a NAV on a B-57 that collided with a
    C-123 on a night mission
  • Survived by four daughters
