The Exploring Window
  • The menu bar contains commands to organize and
work with the drives and files on the computer.
  • The main window contains two panes- the folders
pane on the left and the contents pane on the
right (you can change their size by dragging the
    bar that separates them).
  • In the folders pane, folders are displayed in
hierarchical structure, were in the top level is
the desktop, connected by a dotted vertical line
    to its successor folders.
  • Clicking the recessed Folders button will remove
the folders pane from the window.
  • The plus () and minus (-) signs indicate whether
or not the folder contains subfolders, and
whether they are visible or not. It is also used
    to expand and collapse folders

6
  • If neither a plus or minus sign is displayed, the
    folder does not contain subfolders.
  • The contents pane (one the right) displays the
contents of the folder that is highlighted in the
    folders pane (one the left).
  • The status bar at the bottom of the window
displays the number of folders, or objects that
are displayed in the contents pane, and the space
