What is pharmacy?

• Pharmacy is the study of medicinal substances and
  their therapeutic uses.

How does one become a Pharmacist?

• Bachelor Of Pharmacy Degree
• 2000 hours of post-university/pre-registration in
  community or hospital practice
• Pre registration Graduate Training Course PGTC
• Pharmacy Board of NSW written and oral review

B. Pharm

• Four year degree - 24 credit points per semester
• No prerequisites but assumed knowledge
• Talented student program
• Advanced studies (research option) leading to
  honours degree

  Pharmacy)
• 2nd Year Microbiology, Physiology,

How do you gain entry into Pharmacy?

• HECS PLACES
• 2002 UAI 94
• 2003 UAI 94
• 2004 UAI 97.05
• 2005 - Predicted UAI of 90-93
• FULL FEE PAYING PLACES
• Up to 5 UAI points
• Separate UAC codes
• STAT test compulsory for ALL applicants through
  UAC and international students currently in
  Australia
• Applicants with STAT scores above 149 are ranked
  by UAI

Can you transfer into Pharmacy from another
degree?

• There are a number of places for non-recent
  school leavers
• Admission is HIGHLY competitive
• Need superior performance in at least one FULL
  YEAR of tertiary study
• Must have completed the STAT
• Chemistry, maths and biology background is ideal
  but not essential
• Credit transfer may be available but ONLY at
  enrolment
• UAC application as NRSL

• Must have an U/G degree and satisfy 5 of 7

  including interview
• Usual pre-registration training period
• Quota of 40 (very competitive, 101)
• Quota for 2005 has already been filled
