Failure
  • Failure of any component constitutes an automatic
    failure of the PRT/PFT
  • Unit Standard Good Low, 1st Class
  • Remedial PT, Probation ? Discharge
  • Marines may be exempt from automatic failure if
    failing body composition (command directed) and
    passing with 1st class PFT.

Navy Swim Standards
  • 3rd Class
  • -Deep water Jump
  • -50yd swim
  • -5min float in prone position
  • 2nd Class
  • -Deep water Jump
  • -100yd swim (side, breast, back, elementary,
    freestyle)
  • -5min prone float, 5min back float
  • 1st Class
  • Proficient Use of all strokes (side, breast,
    back, elementary, free)
  • Obtain a lifesaving Certificate from the Red
    Cross or the YMCA
  • 25yds underwater, only surfacing twice (burning
    oil technique)
