Title: Why do bad things happen to good people

1
Why do bad things happen to good people?
  • Jesus, The Suffering Servant of GOD

2
When you wonder if GOD cares
  • consider Him
  • (Hebrews 123 NKJV)

3
When you wonder if GOD cares
  • All doubts about GOD and suffering should be
filtered through what we know about Jesus.
  • I doubt Jesus disciples tormented themselves
with questions like Does God care? because they
had visible evidence of His concern everyday.
  • They simply looked at Jesus face.

When you wonder if GOD cares
  • Jesus responded with sadness and grief
    (Luke 711-17)
  • Jesus cried when His friend died (John 1133-36)
  • Jesus healed pain (Matthew 423-25)

5
When you wonder if GOD cares
  • The word compassion comes from two Latin words
    that mean to suffer with.
  • Jesus showed compassion in the deepest sense when
He voluntarily came to Earth and took on pain.
  • He suffered with us, and for us.

6
When you wonder if GOD cares
  • GOD is not detached from our suffering.
  • He has not disassociated Himself from suffering.

7
When you wonder if GOD cares
  • Not only did Jesus respond with compassion to
    pain He took on pain.
  • GOD has gone through the whole of human
experience, from the trivial irritations of
family life and the cramping restrictions of hard
work and lack of money to the worst horrors of
pain and humiliation, defeat, despair, and death.
  • When the Word became flesh, He played
    the man.

8
When you wonder if GOD cares
  • He was born in poverty and died in disgrace and
    thought it well worthwhile
  • GOD did not sit idly by and watch us suffer
    alone
  • He joined us in His life on Earth, and endured
far more pain than most of us ever will
