What is Microsoft SharePoint?
  • In a nutshell.its a browser-based document
    management system.
  • Capability to store various types of documents
  • Allows shared access to information and documents
    through shared workspaces

4
Why did the APA go with SharePoint?
  • Groupwise was no longer being supported by Novell
  • We went with Microsoft instead of Novell for our
network servers and therefore went with
    SharePoint
  • We considered other options such as Teammate but
decided that it was too costly
  • Teammate is limited in what it can handle and we
wanted a more robust document management system
that would handle documents, such as Personnel
    Evaluations, Newsletters, Workplan Status
    reports, Training Presentations, etc.
