• Type style such as Roman, Ariel, etc.
• Type size of type measured in points
• Font is the combination of these features

Type Guidelines

• For short paragraphs use sans serif typeface use
  serif type for large blocks of text that may be
  printed
• Standard type is 10 to 14 points
• Avoid too much bold, all caps or italic
• Create a high contrast between type and
  background
• Do not have text all the way across the screen,
  make easy to read columns
• Limit length to eight to ten words

• Add quality relevant photographs to add value to
  your site
• Photos or clipart should match or complement your
  Web sites color scheme
• Photographs and illustrations for mapping that
  represent the content they link to and enhance
  the Web sites mood

Graphic File Formats

• Graphic Interchange Format (GIF)
• Good for solid color images
• Joint Photographic Experts Group Format (JPEG)
• Good for photographs or not solid images
• Portable Network Graphics Format (PNG)
• Created as result of a lawsuit from CompuServe
  that created the GIF format
• Will replace GIFs eventually on the Web
• Will not replace JPEGs immediately because of
  loss of compression
