TREASURE INEARTHEN VESSELS
  • 2 Corinthians 4558

4
Something To Think About!
  • The theme in 2 Corinthians is ministering the
gospel, and every believer shares in a call to
minister. From the moment of the new birth, life
for all Christians becomes a ministry. It is no
longer an aimless existence to satisfy ourselves
but a ministry for the glory of God and the
    blessing of others.

5
KEY VERSE
2 Corinthians 47 But we have this treasure in
earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power
may be of God, and not of us.
6
  • Lesson Objectives
  • To understand that it may be Gods will for us to
    experience pain and suffering
  • To depend upon Gods grace to sustain us in time
    of crises
  • To utilize every opportunity to do and say things
    that will count for eternity

7
  • THE GLORIOUS WORK OF THE GOSPEL MINISTRY
  • 2 Corinthians 45-6
  • 2 Corinthians 41 31 Genesis 13
  • John 147, 9 2 Corinthians 37, 13

8
  • While it is true God reveals Himself through His
work of creation, we must also remember that the
voice of creation is limited. It sings of the
power of God, but its choirs fall silent on the
note of redemption and grace. God also
condescends to reflect Himself through His
children. That is what Jesus meant by announcing,
Ye are the light of the world (Matthew 514).

9
  • THE SUFFERINGS TO WHICH WE ARE SUBJECT Part I

    Rom. 836 1 Cor.1531 Luke 923

  • THE SUFFERINGS TO WHICH WE ARE SUBJECT Part II
  • 2 Corinthians 47-18
  • The Nature of Our Hope (13-18)
  • Psalm 11610 2 Corinthians 112b Colossians
    128-29

11
  • This passage focuses on one of the fundamental
    differences between Christians and
non-Christians. The Holy Spirit uses the lens of
Scripture to bring spiritual and eternal things
into focus for saints. But this unseen world is
beyond the view of the unredeemed, who are
unequipped to see such spiritual things.

THE ETERNAL HOUSE WE EXPECT 2 Corinthians
51-8 A New Body to Come (1-4) Mark 1458
Romans 823 An Earnest From God (5) Romans
811 Present With the Lord (6-8) Philippians 123

  • By all standards, heaven is the most onderful and
beautiful place imaginable. What else would we
expect when we consider that it is designed and
built by the great architect of the universe? It
surpasses our realm of experience. But the thing
that really makes it heaven is the fact that our
Savior is there and we will be at home with Him.

  • QUESTIONS FOR STUDY AND DISCUSSION
  • 1. What gave Paul the willingness to endure tough
circumstances in performance of his ministry?
Does that same motivation belong to every
    Christian?
  • 2. How is it possible for Christians to preach
ourselves? What is the cure for this?
  • 3. What is the treasure that Paul refers to in
    47?
  • 4. How do you reconcile 2 Corinthians 48-10 with
the contemporary idea that Christians dont
suffer? What did Paul say was the point of his
    suffering?
  • 5. What did Paul mean in 53 when he wrote of his
desire to not be found naked?
  • 6. How does faith differ from sight?
