  • College currently undergoing a name change to
    become the Canadian College of Health
    Information Management (CCHIM) -AGM June 2006
  • The Canadian Health Information Management
    Association (CHIMA) and the Canadian College of
    Health Record Administrators (CCHRA)/Canadian
    College of Health Information Management
    (CCHIM) operate as one organization, under the
    acronym CHIMA.

    the Register and notified in writing

  • CHIMA met with HRSDC in September 05
  • All reference to coding classification functions
    and CHIMA have been removed
  • Temporarily reassigned to 1122 Professional
    Occupations in Business Services to Management

  • Census Day - May 16, 2006
  • Critical to complete the census questions
    appropriately
  • Final determination of the HIM professional NOC
    will be made based on census findings

    CHIMA-recognized academic institution, qualify to
    challenge the CHIMA National Certification Exam.

    not only certifies HIM programs across Canada it

Membership CONSEQUENCES OF RESIGNATION
  • Membership in CHIMA has always been
    mandatory from a College and Association
    perspective.
  • Not a current member of CHIMA Not eligible
    to use the professional credential or
    designation.
  • To date, non-members have not been removed
    from the College register, however with the
    implementation of mandatory continuing
    professional education (CPE) credits we
    will be enforcing long-standing bylaws. Your
    name will be removed from the college register
    for 2007 and until reinstatement occurs.

Mandatory CPE Credits
  • Confirmed by the Board June 2005
  • Process developed by COE
  • Mandatory CPE is a relevant way to demonstrate
    continuing competence within a profession
    professional self-regulation by college (like
    other allied healthcare professionals)
  • Start date September 2006 (but can go retroactive
    to September 2005)
