Solar Cell Application
  • We need alternative sources of energy since the
    population is continually increasing and the
    supply of fossil fuels is quickly diminishing.
    Solar cells could provide a cheap new energy
    source. Now inorganic nanocrystal solar cells are
    3 efficient, but these and nanorods are
    potentially more efficient due to a high degree
    of surface contact between the donor and acceptor.

Inorganic Nanocrystal Solar Cell
This research uses nanochannels as confinement
and structure directing spaces to fabricate
functional materials (like photovoltaics),
sensors etc. Templates were fabricated to
synthesize materials that will be used in surface
plasmon enhanced solar cells. Nanorods were
created that were vertically aligned to a
conductive substrate. The samples had a mixture
of hexagonal and cubic peaks.
