  • Non-profit professional association
  • 1600 members in 2006
  • Made up of students, researchers, professors,
    regulators, public employees, private employees,
    industry, mosquito control district
    superintendents, workers, trustees, and
    commissioners, and many others
  • Members in 52 countries

  • New Mid-Atlantic Regional Director (DE, MD, DC,
    VA, WV, NC) starting in March, 2008!
  • Bill Meredith will soon complete a maximum of two
    3-year terms on the AMCA Board as a Regional
    Director (with his sentence having been served
    and parole now granted!) ?
  • New Mid-Atlantic RD Capt. Stan Cope (welcome
    aboard!)

  • On a very sad note, the AMCA joins with the rest
    of the Mid-Atlantic mosquito control community in
    mourning the untimely passing of
  • Cy Lesser (Cy was a past AMCA President,
    1992-93).
  • Cy was a consummate, most knowledgeable
    professional who passionately practiced his
    craft. He worked for Maryland Mosquito Control
    for gt31 years, including heading the states
    program since the mid-1990s. Cy was a good
    friend to many and a fine colleague who will be
    sorely missed ..

Legislative Regulatory Affairs
  • Washington, D.C. Legislative/regulatory
    representation through legal counsel and
    professional advocacy -- McDermott, Will Emery.
    Keeps AMCA informed of breaking
    legislative/regulatory issues that could impact
    mosquito control. Also represents AMCA at
    selected federal agency/Congressional meetings.
  • Technical Advisor, Joe Conlon, also attends
    meetings and testifies at hearings on AMCAs
    behalf. Joe has given AMCA a voice of sound
    science and reason wherever he has represented
    AMCA.
