    2007
  • It was agreed that we want an ICC specific side

    possible
  • The topic and potential partners will be decided
    closer to the time
  • Need to update the overall ICC position paper and
identify any policy gaps once the agendas for IPM
    and CSD 15 are available
  • Agreed that we need to finalise documents on
energy efficiency and energy security (if
possible). Comments to the secretariat on the
energy efficiency paper by end October and an aim
to finalise the paper by end November
  • The paper in industrial development also needs to
be reviewed once agendas are out. It was noted
that it was critical that ICC have a view on this
    important issue

    interventions

G8
  • Feedback from recent meetings and action plan
    from St.Petersburg held on 15 -17 July 2006
  • Objective - Energy is essential to improving the
quality of life and opportunities in developed
    and developing nations. Therefore, ensuring
    sufficient, reliable and environmentally
responsible supplies of energy at prices
reflecting market fundamentals is a challenge for
our countries and for mankind as a whole
  • Key areas
  • increasing transparency, predictability and
    stability of global energy markets
  • improving the investment climate in the energy
    sector
  • enhancing energy efficiency and energy saving
  • diversifying energy mix
  • ensuring physical security of critical energy
    infrastructure
  • reducing energy poverty
  • addressing climate change and sustainable
    development.
  • Need to keep an eye on the progress and identify
    areas for business input
  •

6
Energy security paper
  • Comments received and included into a draft which
was now ready for broader circulation and
    comment
  • It was agreed that the paper would be required
for input into a number of forums and not
    specifically for the G8 process
  • Agreed that comments would be sent to the

  • The process would be an iterative one
