Lessons Learned
  • Works better for thesauri than for other
    vocabularies
  • Sometimes difficult for cataloger to complete the
    fields because need to know more in-depth
    information
  • Benefit by having owner/creators do the
    registration
  • Date needed to be changed to be Y2K compliant

Next Steps for BRD
  • BRD will modify Access database and continue
    development of its catalog
  • Make it available via the NBII
  • Reconcile the standard with the NBII (FGDC based)
    metadata standard so the resources can be
    accessed by the CHM search engine

Suggested Next Steps for the WG
  • Develop taxonomy for vocabularies
  • Continue reconciliation of the standard elements
    with other efforts at registration
  • Testing of draft by NKOS members
  • Perhaps approach NISO about hosting a review of
    the results
