Course evaluation criticism
  • lectures were in English even though the course
    was announced to be in Danish in the course base
    (true)
  • there was too much kunst and too little work with
    other kinds of communication (true in exercises
    lessons have been balanced I think, since
    sessions 2, 3, 4 and 5 were about general
    aesthetic properties of the medium, sessions 6, 7
    and 8 about forms for digital art, and sessions
    9, 10 and 11 about other kinds of digital
    products (websites, computers in general, etc.)
  • the course pensum hasn't corresponded exactly
    with the course base description (partly true,
    was done as generic description to allow for
    different teachers, still I think we reached the
    goals of the course, see next)

Kursus beskrivelse
  • Formålet med dette kursus er at sætte den
    studerende i stand til at forstå, hvad digital
    æstetik er, hvad digital æstetik betyder
    kulturelt i dag, og hvordan det æstetiske kan
    anvendes strategisk inden for kommunikation og
    underholdning i digitale medier. Mere specifikt
    har kurset til formål at lære den studerende
  • at forstå det særegne ved digital æstetik i
    forhold til æstetiske fænomener og æstetisk
    indstilling i det hele taget,
  • at forstå de grundlæggende teorier inden for
    digital æstetik,
  • at kunne identificere de vigtigste former for
    æstetiske virkemidler i digitale medier,
  • at få kendskab til historiske og mediespecifikke
    udviklinger, der ligger til grund for nutidens og
    fremtidens digitale udtryksformer,
  • at kunne redegøre for det æstetiskes betydning
    for digitalt indhold inden for kommunikation,
    kunst, spil mv.,
  • at kunne analysere og problematisere det
    æstetiskes funktion i forskellige former for
    digitalt indhold og foretage synteser på baggrund
    af teori og analyse,
  • at kunne forstå æstetiske strategier i
    udviklingen og implementeringen af koncepter
    inden for kommunikation og underholdning.

Kursus indhold
  • Kurset består af en gennemgang af den digitale
    æstetiks teorier, problemstillinger og praktiske
    anvendelsesmuligheder. Der tages udgangspunkt i
    en kort indføring i æstetisk teori og beskrivelse
    af æstetikkens kulturelle betydning i dag.
    Derefter gennemgås de betydeligste bidrag til den
    digitale æstetiks teori og analyse, herunder
    bl.a. Manovich, Bolter Grusin, Johnson, Landow
    og Cubitt. Kurset vil bl.a. behandle følgende
    emner
  • Æstetikkens betydning for usability og HCI (10)
  • Interaktivitetens æstetik (4,11)
  • Branding og storytelling som æstetiske strategier
    (8,9)
  • Forholdet mellem digital æstetik, stil og genrer
    (6,11)
  • Forholdet mellem digital æstetik og kulturelle
    værdier (2, discussions, exercises)
  • Affekt og tillid som faktor inden for digital
    kommunikation (10)
  • Gennemgang af mulighederne for at skabe digital
    kunst med udgangspunkt i brugergrænsefladens
    muligheder og begrænsninger (exercises,
    kunstudstilling)
