The life of St Joseph

• Joseph who lived in Nazareth was the foster
  father of Jesus.
• And the husband of Mary. Out of all the men
  throughout the history and the world a simple
  village carpenter was chosen to raise Gods child
  and Joseph was there to raise him through-out his
  childhood.

• The bible tells us that Joseph was a just man
  which referred him to as loyal, fair, honest and
  a God loving person. He is a good example for
  fathers and protectors of a family.

Patron Saint of

• St Joseph feast day falls in lent (March 19th)
  and therefore is celebrated after Easter (1st
  May). Joseph is the patron saint of the Universal
  Church in Belgium, Canada, China and Peru of
  workers , fathers, craftsman, the poor and of a
  happy death. For his role model in selling homes
  for the poor and support and patron of many
  countries Pope Pius IV declared him Patron of the
  Universal Church in 1870.

The Lily

• The Lily is associated with Saint Joseph spouse
  of the blessed Virgin Mary through the ancient
  legend that he was chosen from among other men by
  the blossoming of his staff like lily.

• As the bible passage says The just man shall
  blossom like a lily which they referred to as
  St. Joseph.

• The symbols that also represent him are an
  infant child, monstrance, chalice, cross, lamb,
  bible, ladder, tools, rod, plane and carpenters
  square
