• Understand the critical importance of receiving
  messages, routing to proper individual and
  documenting actions taken

• Where do messages or requests for assistance come
  from?
• How do these requests end up in the EOC?

• There is more than one way to handle message flow
• 3-part message form

Messages

• Message is received by EM Director or Floor
  Manager they keep one copy of Message and pass to
  appropriate coordinator
• Posts message on status board or may delegate to
  coordinator to post on status board

• Coordinator documents actions taken, Keeps one
  copy and sends third copy back to EM Director or
  Floor manager once request has been acted on.

• EM Director or Floor Manager follows up to assure
  request for assistance was acted on.

Status Boards

• Allows everyone to get a snapshot of activity
• Keeps important issues front and center
• Tracks resources/personnel allocated
• Damage assessment/ road closures
