Saturn
  • Saturn was named after the Roman god of
agriculture. In Roman mythology Saturn was the
    father of Jupiter.

3
Galileo Galilei
  • Galileo was the first to observe Satuen with a
    telescope in 1610.
  • Since Earth passes through the plane of Saturn's
rings every few years Galileo saw Saturn while
    it moved in its orbit

4
  • Saturn is made up of about 75 hydrogen and 25
    helium
  • Saturn's interior is a rocky core, a liquid
metallic hydrogen layer ,and a molecular hydrogen
    layer
  • The planet has seven rings , and each one was
given a letter between A and G for its name.
Three of the rings, A, B and C, are visible from
    Earth with a telescope.

Saturn
5
Saturn
  • Its minimum distance from the Earth is 746
    million miles away.
  • Its Average Distance from the Sun is 885,904,700
    miles away

6
  • How many days does Saturn take to orbit around
    the sun?
  • Saturns revolution period around the Sun is 29.5
    Earth years.

7
How long is one day on Saturn?
  • It is 10 hours, 47 minutes and 6 seconds

8
Saturns moons
  • Saturn has 56 known moons orbiting it
  • In total it has 60 know moons
  • One of Saturns moons is Titan which is one of
the largest moons in the Solar System

9
Interesting Facts about Saturn
  • Saturn is the second largest planet
  • Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun
  • Saturns temperature is -217F
  • Saturns rotation period is 0.44401 Earth days

10
Even More interesting facts. Amazing isnt it?
  • NASA's Cassini spacecraft will make an
unprecedented "in your face" flyby of Saturn's
moon Enceladus on Wed., March 12.
  • NASA's Cassini spacecraft has found evidence of
material orbiting Rhea, Saturn's second largest
    moon.
