  for the past 8 years at the Lake Burien
  Presbyterian Church under the sponsorship of 12
  local churches.

• The mission of Hospitality House is to help
  women find home, health and hope.
• Hospitality House shelter is a caring
  environment, providing case management and safety
  to homeless women in order to foster empowerment
  that leads them toward a permanent home and
  self-sustainability.

• Eight years ago, during a hearing with the City
  of Burien, Pastor Charles Koethe dispelled the
  anxieties of nervous neighbors and a skeptical
  Burien City Council with these words 
• establishing a shelter for homeless women is
  not our idea. We are simply following the One who
  has told us very clearlyfeed the hungry, clothe
  the naked, welcome the stranger, show
  hospitality. 
• In summary, Koethe stated, If we dont do it,
  who will? 
• The Burien City Council voted 4-2 on June 5,
  2000 to approve the shelter.

In King Countys 10-year plan to end
homelessness  A Roof Over Every Bed, South
King County is recognized as underserved.  Keeping
Hospitality House open and viable, as one of the
only single womens shelters in South King
County, is an important part of serving the needs
of homeless women.

• The shelter is currently open to residents
  weekdays from 330pm - 730am and every weekend
  from 630pm - 730am. On Mondays, Wednesdays,
  and Thursdays, women may stay in the shelter
  during day hours as well. On open days the women
  have services available to them including daytime
  case management services. In addition to case
  management, on Tuesdays beginning in January
  2009, we will be providing job skills, money
  management and budgeting and life skills training.

• Hospitality House is open 365 nights a year. We
  are largely supported by a diverse and committed
  volunteer corp. We are always recruiting new
  volunteers and have new volunteer orientation
  several times a year. Please think about
  donating your time to one of our programs.
