  • Mission
  • Provide Military Funeral Honors
    Teams and an Installation level Color Guard in
    order to conduct Military Funeral Honors /
    Memorial Services, ceremonies and special events
    representing Fort Gordon and the United States
    Army. Train all Authorized Provider Partners in
    45 counties across the Central Savannah River
    Area (CSRA) provide advice pertaining to
    protocol, ceremonies, military customs and
    courtesies to military and civilian officials
    and provide detail support for all ceremonies and
    special events directed by the Garrison
    Commander.

ISP CYCLE
  • Cycle consist of between 12 and 14 weeks
  • Transition Week consist of
  • Counseling
  • Drivers and risk management training
  • Ceremonial/Honors training
  • Uniform and equipment inspections
  • Inventory and sign for equipment
  • Update and submit all administrative requirements
  • Weeks 1 - 12/14
  • Teams execute all ISP task and details
  • Reinforcement training and common military
    training is conducted throughout the cycle
  • Soldiers are on call 24/7
  • Physical fitness training conducted 5 days a week

Authorized Provider Partnership Program (AP3)
  • Allows for Veteran Service Organizations, ROTC
    and Reserve Units to participate in Military
    Funeral Honors details
  • They can only Augment not handle the requirement
  • Currently in process of sending out letters to
    all VSOs in our AOR
  • Will increase effort next cycle
  • Plan to meet with Funeral Directors and
    coordinate effort to involve VSO
  • The past cycle we trained 22 members of the
    American Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill South
    Carolina

Staffing

  • Full Honors Team 
  • Responsible for performing all Full Team
    funerals. This includes pall-bearers, firing
    squad, folding and presentation of the flag.
  • Full Teams also assist in 3-man funerals as
    needed.
  • Provides firing team to support any events /
    ceremonies that require ceremonial firing
  • During Cannon Salutes perform as cannon team
    members

  • Color Guard
  •  
  • Lead Team for ISP Tours and Presentations
  • On post tasking go through the DPTMS and Central
    Tasking Branch.
  • Off post tasking go through the DPTMS and the
    Public Affairs Office.
  • Responsible for safeguarding, care and display of
    National, Army, Regimental Colors, and any other
    flags for events / ceremonies on and off post.
    All 3-man funerals will be conducted by the Color
    Guard. This includes folding the flag,
    presenting the flag to the next of kin, and
    playing taps.

  •  Honors Team Chief Duties include
  • Give all commands to the funeral team.
  • Inspection of the flag.
  • Presenting the flag to the next of kin.
  • Coordinating all funerals with the funeral homes.
  • Insuring all maintenance is done on equipment
    (vehicles, weapons, etc.)
  • Continue training and inspection of funeral team.
  • Firing Squad NCO Duties include
  • Give all commands to the firing squad.
  • Insure all weapons are loaded, rounds are seated
    (first round), and weapon placed on semi.
  • Perform TAPS with ceremonial bugle as needed.
  • Assist Funeral Team Chief with other duties as
    needed.
  • Funeral Team Duties include
  • Conduct Pall Bearer duties.
  • Conduct Firing Squad duties.
  • Conduct Flag Folding duties. Flag Folding Team
    consist of
  • A Head Assist Head Folder.

  • NCOIC serves as a caller, presents the flag
  • A Tucker (tucks and inspects the flag). Tucker
    also performs TAPS on ceremonial bugle.
  • A Spinner (performs a spin, tucks, and inspects
    the flag).

  • Administration / Operations
  •  
  • Responsible for updating all files kept at the
    platoon. This includes funeral detail records
    for two years, events and tasking for two years,
    and all other admin files (two years or current
    and previous cycles). Also responsible for
    sending the weekly status report, updating the
    Department of the Army data base for veteran
    honors, as well as the event matrix.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the
    funeral, event, detail and personnel status board
    daily.
  • Provides continuous accountability for all
    platoon equipment and supplies.
  • Requisitions issue of blank 75mm ammunition for
    salute battery ceremonies and issues 5.56mm
    ammunition for the firing teams.
  • Assist with draws of expendable supplies from
    SSSC and self-help.
  • Responsible for coordination of all funerals with
    area funeral homes

  • Set Up Team
  • Provides technical assistance, coordination, and
    execution for all on and off post events and
    ceremonies as directed by the DPTMS
  • Sets up all Flag displays across the Installation
    and the CSRA
  • Installs and operates audio/visual equipment for
    all events
  • Provides and sets up all canopies for events on
    and off the Installation.
