Community Liaison Program
  • The Community Liaison is a student position
embedded in our Be A Good Neighbor partner
    housing complexes.
  • Community Liaisons
  • Assist in building stronger communities in our
    partner complexes.
  • Bring students together through events and
    programs.
  • Provide University resources to our off-campus
    student population.
  • Create an atmosphere where students can work
together with our partners and other community
stake holders to improve the quality of life in
    the City of Tempe.
  • Opportunity for students to learn multiple
aspects of providing services to off-campus
    students.

11
Community Liaison Program
  • Duties of a Community Liaison include
  • Distributing and posting university-related
information provided to them by the Center.
  • Meet with the off-campus location management
    monthly to determine needs.
  • Provide at least one program, volunteer or
informational event each month. Programs per
semester must include two passive and two active
    programs.
  • Promote campus programs/events in off-campus
    housing community.

Community Mentoring Program
  • Collaborative effort between Arizona State
University Center for Off-Campus and Commuter
Student Services (Residential Life) Arizona State
University, City of Tempe, Tempe Community
Council, and the School of Interdisciplinary
Studies. The idea of the program is to embed
students into the community to enhance and retain
    academic retention efforts. The Community
Mentoring Program is a program that is
two-folded, the program gives City of Tempe
Officials the opportunity to serve as members to
Arizona State University students, and these
students serve as protégés to the mentors.
  • One of the goals of the program is to help
strengthen and broaden the relationship between
Arizona State University and the City of Tempe.
Based upon interaction with the City of Tempe
through serving on various boards and committees
I found it would be a positive, rewarding
experience to engage students in a positive
interaction with a City of Tempe Official. The
program provides students with the opportunity
for career exploration and development by
connecting them with a highly recognized City of
Tempe Official. Another goal of the program is to
allow city officials to have a positive
    interaction with Arizona State University.
