- Allen County Education Partnership (ACEP) is a
non-profit literacy organization that was
established in 1991. - Our mission is to improve academic achievement
for youth through business, community, and
education partnerships. - Our vision is that all Allen County children will
read at grade level by the completion of third
grade.

- An after school tutoring program for children in
grades K-3rd grade who are reading below grade
level - 17 different sites hosted 206 students with 219
volunteer tutors this past year
594 of students who completed two assessments
showed improvement
96 of students who completed two Project READS
assessments showed improvement

10Parent Literacy Enrichment Classes
- Classes are designed for parents of
pre-kindergarten through third grade students - Parents are given tools and techniques for
helping their child improve their reading and
writing skills - 579 Allen county families completed our PLE
classes this past year

14Learn United
- Coordinate all of the volunteer tutors for Learn
United, a community initiative spearheaded by
United Way, to close the 3rd grade reading
achievement gap - Currently have about 425 tutors in 14 different
schools
15ITT Excellence in Education Awards
- Partner with ITT to help teachers earn grant
money to pursue innovative projects in math,
science, and technology - Over 26,500 was distributed to 18 Allen County
- teachers for
- 2008-2009
16Leo Elementary School Using KNex construction
materials to build simple machines
17Haverhill Elementary School Using Nintendo DS
game systems to improve brain function, logical
thinking, and speed in solving math problems
18Homestead High School - Using GPS technology to
explore the outdoors
19Whispering Meadows Elementary School - Designing
vehicles and understanding how weight and load
affect their performance
20Tools For Teachers
- 12,805 books were distributed to 25 schools
during our Community Literacy Partnership - Classroom supplies including paper, glue,
pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, etc. were
also distributed - 12 art teachers received materials including
paint, clay, yarn, specialty paper, and other
items
