Keri Wyatt KentA meal is a connecting point, a
place to pause. Simplicity is not about doing
whatever takes the least effort. Its about
staying focused on your priorities. Decide
ahead what you want your weeks schedule to look
like. For me, a simpler lifestyle doesnt mean
avoiding extracurricular activities. It means
limited activities and limiting the number of
evenings per week that we have obligations. Ask
specific questions What was the highlight of
your day? Vs. What was your day like? (Catching a
worm)Maybe ask What was the lowlight of your
day? (Your yelling at me.)Then, LISTEN!Other
questionsIf you could change one family rule,
what would it be? What would happen if the rule
changed? If you could be called by any name,
what name would you choose for yourself? Why?
If you were magically transformed into an animal,
what animal would you like to be? Why?What is (or
was) your favorite toy? Why? The hurrier I go,
the behinder I get! QUESTION What would you
have to say no to in order to say yes to family
meals? Little League, soccer, other activities
all at dinner time. Husband works evenings. You
may have a work schedule. Make time for whoever
can be there. Use car pools.Share clean-up
afterwards. Learn manners say please and
thank-you. Say grace and even use a fun method.
Use a crock pot. Fix It and Forget It
Cookbook. Why are holiday meals so great? Because
everyone is together! Read quote on P. 58 70.
