  • Lighting
  • Heavy use of daylighting
  • Electronic lighting ballasts40 savings (if used
throughout US would save 60 large power plants,
    saving 100 billion)
  • Compact fluorescent bulbs all over
  • Automatic dimmer devices for all lights (extra
    30-50 savings)
  • Appliances
  • Refrigerator uses 5-7 usual electricity, Freezer
uses 15 usual (100/yr savings, if used all over
US would save 50 billion in power plants)
  • Solar clothes drying closets (fans use 1/100 of
energy in std. Dryer, but for 10x longer90
    savings)
  • Takes more time and more wrinkles but no static,
longer wearing, no lint loss, fire hazard,
    overdrying or shrinkage.
  • Stove, now on propane, will soon be operable with
biogas or hydrogen generated by photovoltaic
    system
  • Super-efficient computers and office machines
(waste heat used for space heating)
  • Single utility chase running length of building
    for easy access

If every American household replaced just one of
its standard light bulbs with an energy-efficient
compact fluorescent bulb, wed save the same
amount of energy as a large nuclear power plant
produces in a year.

Product Grey Water Irrigation System Approximately
30 of household waste water can be treated and
used for landscape irrigation. Closed waste
water recycling systems are being installed
through a pilot program sponsored by the City of
LA, Office of Water Reclamation. The results
have demonstrated the effectiveness of such a
system, as well as alleviate concerns of health
risks associated with using graywater. Outdoor
use is recommended with a drip irrigation
system. Application and Process Configurations
for graywater systems depend on the source of the
water and the type of use for the reclaimed
water. At the minimum, water is collected from
the washing machine and fed into the cellection
tank. Larger systems include water from baths,
showers, bathroom sinks, and dishwashers. A
typical system includes a storage tank, a sump
pump, three-way valves, a filter, and all
necessary tubing and connections. The plumbing
system needs to be double-plumped so the usable
gray water may be routed to the storage tank.
Automatic systems equipped with a microprocessor
reduce necessary manual maintenance. A
subsurface drip irrigation system is the
recommended method of using graywater, although a
surface irrigation system may be
used. Prices Prices start at 300 for the basic
system and can cost up to 4000 for a complete
whole house system. Authorized Dealers Agwa
