Our Interconnectivity
  • There is a tremendous link between the areas of
    WILPF Program. This is seen especially by the
    work being done by the Disarmament and
    Demilitarisation working group and the
    Environmental Working group- both bring back a
    focus on militarism. In order to strengthen this
    link, at this meeting, the two groups met
    together. These are their results.

Environmental Sustainability
  • Title of the Congress connected to the Effects of
    War Environmental and Health Effects of War-
    link to conflict effect on water, resource wars
  • Specific Priorities
  • Commission on Sustainable Development- May 2007,
    in NYC,
  • POLICY SETTING YEAR ON ENERGY, industry and
    pollution
  • Prepare for international environment day- will
    be in Northern Norway in June 2007

Women, Peace and Security
  • October 31, 2006- 6 year anniversary of UNSC 1325
  • PeaceWomen sending general advocacy letter to
    sections, sections use it with their own national
    specifics nationally
  • PW will then use that at the UN
  • November 25 (day to end violence against women) -
    December 10 (human rights day)
  • 16 Days of activism on violence against women
  • Emphasis on human rights
  • Connection between militarism and domestic
    violence
  • Commission on the Status of women, 2008
  • Women and armed conflict
  • Sections strategize until then, feedback to PW

Global Economic Justice
  • Goal Get something into the monthly mailing
    every month related to trade justice
  • Export Processing Zones project- Maquila Project
  • Get funding
  • Get website live, continue research to get more
    information on it
  • With approval from this IEC, work on the
    resolution described in OPP, have a draft UN
    resolution ready by 2007
  • Possible Workshops for Congress
  • Follow-up to Costa Rica Seminar on Women and EPZs
  • Womens voice in sharing worlds resources
  • Proposed resolution- women in trade decision
    making
  • Program 2007-2010
  • Womens budgets, gender budgeting, where does

International Criminal Court
  • Decision needed
  • confirm our representatives- Lies Jensen Martha
    Jean Baker
  • Recommendations for WILPF from representatives
  • Continue participation in the Coalition for the
    ICC
  • Accredit representatives to attend next Assembly
    of States parties the Hague, end of 2006
  • Sections follow development of the relationship
    between their states and the Assembly of States
    Parties.
  • Lobby States that are not party to the Rome
    Statute, and not part of the ICC to join

Delegation to Cuba- November 2006
  • Originally a conference, decision to change to
    delegation.
  • About 25 persons
  • Self-Funded, prices will be around 1100 per
    person for one week- including meals.
  • Federation of Cuban Women will work with us to
    arrange program
  • Delegation must agree to
  • Report back to their section
  • Generate a written report for the Bolivia
    Congress
  • Be willing to be identified as a participant- to
    media, to public
  • Be personally responsible for any repercussions
    for traveling to Cuba (e.g. WILPF USA is not
    responsible for the travel of their members)

WILPF 100th Anniversary
  • Provisional Agreement, 2005 to hold event in Den
    Haag
  • Mans van Zandbergen agreed to serve as focal
    point for preparations for conference
  • Now is the time to prepare for an incredible
    event!
