Course Requirements
  • Reading class
  • In class 5 chapters (CH.1, 2, 5, 11, 13)
  • Self study 3 chapters (CH.6, 12, 14)
  • (Finish self-study articles and the exercises by
    July 30th / August 1st. The teacher will check
    your work on August 1st / Aug. 3rd.)

Preview and review every chapter. There will be
a vocabulary quiz after each lesson.

  • Portfolio Group Work
  • To better enhance your English reading
    ability, you are encouraged to establish a
    reading habit. To do so, you (as a group) will
    need to read at least two articles every week. It
    is suggested you collect articles from different
    sources, such as journals, magazines, or
    newspapers. Reading passages from the Internet
    will be acceptable.

  • As a self-learning record, you need to put the
    articles you read inside a portfolio. Here is the
    guideline for the assignment
  • Minimum number of articles 8 articles in total.

  • 3. 5 to 8 vocabulary words and definitions
  • Choose 5 words from each article and write the
    class of each word (verb, adjective, and so on)
    and an English definition.
  • 4. A reflection
  • Write a reflection (50 to 100 words) after
    reading each article. (Every group member!)
