Tactile Theory
People believed that particles were sent out and
back.
Strength Somewhat supports light as a particle
3
Tactile Weakness
Staring at distant stars means that these
particles travel way too fast
4
Emission Theory
Objects send probes to the eye
5
Emission Good
Supports the idea that light is a particle
Emission Bad
Does not explain the wave properties that light
displays
6
Corpuscular Theory
Light is composed of tiny particles
Strengths
Supports the reflection of light
7
Corpuscular Weaknesses
It cannot explain the supernumerary bow, the
corona, or an iridescent cloud.
8
Wave Theory
Light, like sound, is a wave
Strengths
Explains supernumerary bows and the wave like
properties
9
Weakness
How is light generated? And what happens in space?
10
Quantum Theory
Light Energy
11
Pros
Explains the color of light, and most behaviors
that light exerts
Cons
Doesnt describe why light bends
12
But The Wave Theory sounds most reasonable to me.
Why? Because light acts most like a wave in its
properties. It has intensity (amplitude) and
follows most of the definitions of a wave
(reflection, rectal linear propagation, etc.). As
far as how it can travel through space without
anything to travel through (space is a vacuum,
void of content) perhaps a vacuum isnt void of
content, I think outer space, may actually be
full of Dark Matter, something scientists are
still trying to figure out what it is.
What do I think?
I think theyre CRAZY
