30- These tools help us reduce our carbon footprint
- because they
- establish a benchmark (what gets measured gets
done) - can be completed at various scales (a household,
a building or a city) - are a revealing exercise for a family, work unit
or community - are highly inactive which allows easy engagement
- can be engaged in a proactive way (by allowing

standardized in the ISO - 14000 environmental protocol)
- can help us prepare for Carbon Cap Trading or
other types of carbon - reduction legislation
