Synopsis
  • This course deals with skills that are
    useful to prepare, write and present scientific
    research papers effectively. Material
    presentation, planning and actual writing will be
    discussed. Viewgraph presentation technique and
    storyboard writing technique are introduced for
    effective planning and presentation. Paragraph
    writing is discussed in its format and style.
    The clear and concise writing is emphasized. A
    format for typical research paper is reviewed.
    Some example papers will be reviewed to highlight
    the essence of good effective papers.

Approach
  • Students will jointly develop model
    research papers. Each student will contribute a
    paragraph and then write a paper by incorporating
    other student paragraphs into a complete and
    coherent paper. The paper is to give some advise
    for Korean Information and communication
    industry to help promote Korean economy.

Vigorous writing is concise.
  • Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence
    should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph
    no unnecessary words, for the same reason that a
    drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a
    machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not
    that the writer make all his sentences short, or
    that he avoid all detail and treat his subjects
    only in outline, but that every word tell.
