Border Release Advance Screening Selectivity
(BRASS)
  • Automated system designed to expedite the
    processing of certain repetitively shipped
    products using bar code technology.
  • Brass is a voluntary system.
  • Brass accounts for approximately 35 of all
    formal entries.

Land Border Carrier Initiative Program (CIP)
  • Deter smugglers of illegal drugs from using
    commercial conveyances for their contraband.
  • Provide carriers with an incentive to improve
    their own cargo terminal and conveyance security
    and to enhance their awareness of drug smuggling.

    suspected illegal activities to Customs and
