Security in UNDP
  • New staff are obliged to
  • Pass the Basic Security in the field (BSITF) CD
    and get the certificate.
  • Attend the Security briefing by UNDSS Jakarta
  • Read the Building security presentation (if the
    work station is at MTB)

Warden systems
  • There are 2 (two) types of Security warden system
    applied for UNDP staff
  • FLOOR WARDEN SYSTEM
  • AREA WARDEN SYSTEM

FLOOR WARDENS SYSTEM
  • Floor Warden system covers UNDP Staff during
    working time at the office.
  • Each staff is attached to a group of floor
    warden system and the cell is led by a Safety
    Floor Warden.
  • One group of floor warden consist of max 10
    staff.
  • When new staff do the entrance procedure, he/ she
    will be introduced to his/ her Floor warden.

FLOOR WARDENS SYSTEM
  • Safety floor warden is the staff who is
    appointed officially by the unit or agency to be
    the security focal point for the unit during
    working hour.
  • Safety Floor warden acts as the leader for his/
    her responsibility staff during evacuation.
  • Safety Floor warden is coordinated by Chief of
    Floor warden.

  • Floor wardens main task is to bring all of his/
    her responsibility staff to the assembly area
    safely and gives a proper aid when it is needed.
  • Ideally, Safety Floor wardens are trained on
    First aid, Emotional first aid training, radio
    procedure and Fire drill.
  • Safety Floor wardens are equipped with Radio,
    Vest and hat, First aid kit, flash light and
    mask.

Chief of Floor Warden
  • In each floor, there is a staff appointed as a
    chief of Floor warden.
  • He/ she has the responsibility to ensure that all
    of staff have left the floor during emergency
    event/ evacuation.
  • Chief of floor warden will be the last person who
    leaves the floor.

In case of evacuation
  • Stop working immediately and remain calm. If
    there is time, take your valuable thing with you.
  • Follow instructions from the PA (Public
    Announcement) system and/or from your Floor
    Warden.

In case of evacuation
  • Form a line promptly in front of the designated
    fire stairwell.
  • Depart through the fire exits to designated
    floors/areas upon instructions from the PA
    announcement and/or the Safety Warden.
  • ( For fire threat, can be within the building
    to lower floors, or to a place outside the
    building).

In case of evacuation
  • Unless otherwise instructed, leave the building
    and move to a safe area.
  • Return upon notification of re-entry to the
    building.
  • If you are not allowed to return to the building
    that day, you should continue checking with the
    UN hotline 3141308 ext. 848

AREA WARDENS SYSTEM
  • Area Warden system covers UNDP Staff after office
    time or covers the staff residences areas .
  • Each staff is attached to a zone group zone of
    area warden system and zone group is led by an
    area Warden.
  • The zone is created based staff address and
    clustered by the area.
  • When new staff do the entrance procedure, he/ she
    will be introduced to his/ her Area warden.

AREA WARDENS SYSTEM
  • Area Warden is the staff who appointed officially
    by UNDP management to be the security focal
    point for the staff at his/ her zone .
  • Area wardens will work closely with the office to
    give advice, support or support staff during
    emergency.
  • Area warden acts as the leader for his/ her
    responsibility staff during evacuation especially
    for International staff.

  • In case of emergency all UN offices in Jakarta
    may be considered Concentration Points.
  • Staff who have lost contact or can not move
    around easily should attempt to go to the nearest
    UN Offices.

SMS System
  • UNDP Jakarta has established a SMS system with
    the purpose as a tool for
  • Head counting during emergency.
  • disseminate security information to all staff.
  • Staff phone number will be included in the system
    once he/ she completes the entrance procedure.

Head Counting
  • If an emergency happens (i.e earthquake), UNDP
    management will active the comm. tree so each of
    head unit can report to the management regarding
    the staff condition.
  • Each unit has a communication tree which is
    integrated to the UNDP Comm tree.

Disseminate Security Info
  • Staff will receive security safety info from
    the management or forwarded from UNDSS office.
  • Staff also allowed to send an info through an
    established procedure.
