Hearts and Crafts Quilt
  • The Official Philanthropic Project of Kappa Psi
    Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc. in conjunction
    with Province II
  • Inspired by the AIDS quilt
  • All proceeds will benefit the Multiple Sclerosis
    Foundation

History of the Quilt
  • During the Spring Province II Assembly, Brother
    Emily Dornblaser of the Beta Kappa Chapter
    brought up the idea of a Province II Quilt during
    the Philanthropic round table, at which time the
    National Project was born
  • Preliminary plans for the quilt were discussed
    throughout the summer with the Province II
    Executive Committee
  • Plans were finalized in Hershey at the Interim
    Meeting
  • Province II donated 1000 to the project during
    their fall assembly, along with ten squares

  • The quilt has made its appearance at the fall
    assemblies of Provinces II, III, and V
  • It was also formally presented at Provinces VIII
    and IX, as well as ASHPs National Meeting in
    Anaheim, Orange County, California

The Quilts Intentions
  • It has been nearly seven years since the last
    Official National Philanthropic Project which was
    the Cross Country Bike Ride to benefit the
    American Diabetes Association Sponsored by
    Gamma Eta chapter and Province X
  • As the oldest and largest pharmaceutical
    fraternity, brothers of Kappa Psi have the
    potential to make a difference
  • The final quilt project will be unveiled at the
    53rd GCC in Boston

  • Predominantly service-based, non-profit
    organization
  • Primary mission is to ensure the best quality of
    life for those coping with MS by providing
    comprehensive support and educational programs
  • Supporting research into its cause and cure as
    well as investigations of various medical and
    complementary treatment options
  • Serve with empathy, resourcefulness, and
    responsibility
  • Listen, assist, and empower.

What you can do to help
  • Every chapter can simply participate in the
    project!
  • Be creative
  • Pull ideas from chapter brothers to come up with
    a design
  • Purchase your own individual square
  • Sew smaller individual squares together so they
    fit the national guidelines
  • Ask graduate brothers to participate as well!

The Official National Philanthropic Projects
Goals
  • 4,000 per province
  • 36,000 dollars nationwide!
  • To unveil the final project at the 53rd GCC and
    to reach our goals by that time!

What the square should look like

Guidelines
  • 100 minimum donation per square
  • If a chapter decides to raise more than 100,
    they get to have a square for each 100 raised
  • 24 x 24 inch fabric section
  • 22 x 22 inch design on the fabric
  • A 1 inch boarder on each side of the design for
    sewing purposes

Deadlines
  • The initial deadline for chapter patch submission
    is
  • December 1st, 2006
  • The secondary deadline for patch submission is
  • June 30th, 2007
  • Please make all checks payable to Kappa
    Psi-Province II or Multiple Sclerosis
    Foundation
