ASSE Foundation Mission

• The American Society of Safety Engineers
  Foundation, in partnership with the American
  Society of Safety Engineers, generates funding
  and provides resources for scholarship, applied
  research and academic accreditation in order to
  advance the safety, health environmental
  profession.

• Since 1990 the ASSEF has raised over 3,018,000
• Since 1996, ASSEF has awarded
• Over 500,000 in scholarships
• Over 14,000 in professional development grants
• Over 175,000 in research grants fellowships
• 100,000 in educational assistance
• 14,000 for accreditation support
• 12,000 in cash awards for research ideas
• ASSEF has over 1,000,000 in reserves
• 20 of ASSE members support ASSEF
• 39 of ASSE Chapters support ASSEF

  safety, health environmental degrees)
• Professional Development Grants (for ASSE members
  working to advance their professional

• Liberty Mutual Research Fellowship Program (to
  familiarize grad students, faculty members and

  conducting applied safety research that enhances
  management performance in reducing injuries and

• Planned Giving through bequests, life insurance

• Allows you to be economical generous at the
  same time insures a base of support for ASSEFs
  future
• You will be a member of a very elite group, the
  Legacy Trust, that believes in the future of the
  safety profession demonstrates leadership by
  example

How Can Your Chapter Make a Difference?

• Encourage your Chapter to make a gift to the
  Foundation or establish a scholarship program in
  your chapters name
• Appoint a Foundation Rep who will make their own
  gift and discuss Foundation programs regularly
  with your Chapter members

Stars Recognition Program

• Support the Foundation Earn Points!
• Up to 75 points earned when Chapter schedules a
  specific event or activity to benefit the
  Foundation (up to 5 events _at_ 15 points each)

• 20 points earned when Chapter Scholarship program
  is administered through the ASSE Foundation

Something to Think About

• It only takes 6,000 to establish a scholarship
  fund through the Foundation we will administer
  the program for you
• Your chapter will receive national recognition.
• Your chapter chooses the type of candidate to
  receive award by developing criteria (with
  ASSEFs assistance)
• Scholarship Committee selects candidate based on
  your chapters criteria
• You can add to your scholarship fund each year,
  as funds are available
• Once fund balance reaches 23,000, your 1,000
  award lives on in perpetuity
