18. Attach Tooling (F) and a suitable lifting
device to adapter (62). The weight of adapter
(62) is approximately 30 kg (65 lb). Install
adapter (62).

(61). Tighten bolts (61) to a torque of 240 40
Nm (177 30 lb ft).

and Tooling (H) to check bearing end play. The
correct bearing end play is 0.150 0.050 mm
(.006 .002 inch). Add or remove shims (73), as
required. Once the proper end play is reached,
remove adapter (62).

21. Install seal (65) into adapter (62) at this
time. Bearing (64) was previously installed.
Lubricate seal (65) with oil.

seals (63) onto adapter (62). Lubricate seals
(63) with oil.

and a suitable lifting device to adapter (62).
The weight of adapter (62) is approximately 30 kg

  1. Install bolts (61). Tighten bolts (61) to a
    torque of 240 40 Nm (177 30 lb ft).
  2. Check the bearing end play. The correct bearing
    end play is 0.150 0.050 mm (.006 .002 inch).
    Repeat Steps 18 through 24, if necessary.

  1. Place stator (27) in a suitable press.
  2. Install adapter (60) into stator (27). Install
    retaining ring (59).

28. Install plate (58) into stator (27). Install
retaining ring (57). Repeat this procedure for
the opposite side.

  • Raise the temperature of bearing (56). Install
    bearing (56) onto outer shaft (51). Allow the
    bearing (56) and the outer shaft to reach a
    uniform temperature.
  • Note Note the location of the two holes in the
    side of seal carrier (55). Make sure that one
    hole is aligned with the oil passage on shaft
    (51). Make sure that the remaining hole is in
    alignment with the hole that is provided for the
    installation of the locating pin. Failure to
    align the oil passages in seal carrier (55) and
    shaft (51) will result in failure of the
    components.
  • Raise the temperature of seal carrier (55).
    Install seal carrier (55) onto outer shaft (51).

  • Raise the temperature of seal carrier (53).
    Install seal carrier (53) onto inner shaft (50).
  • Raise the temperature of bearing (52). Install
    bearing (52) onto inner shaft (50). Allow inner
    shaft (50) and bearing (52) to reach a uniform
    temperature. Use a hammer and a suitable punch to
    reset bearing (52). Ensure that bearing (52) is
    seated correctly.

  • Install inner shaft (50) into outer shaft (51).
    Install seal (47).
  • Install seals (48) and install ring (49) onto the
    shaft assembly.

36. Install the ring seal into sleeve (45).
Install sleeve (45) and install bolts (44).
Tighten bolts (44) to a torque of 30 5 Nm (22
4 lb ft).

  • Install the transmission oil pump. Refer to
    Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Oil Pump
    - Install".
  • Install the torque converter. Refer to

    Install".

  • Remove the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly
    and Assembly, "Torque Converter - Remove" for
    the machine that is being serviced.
  • Remove the transmission oil pump. Refer to
    Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Oil
  • Pump - Remove" for the machine that is being
    serviced.
  • Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve.
    Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Relief Valve
    (Torque Converter Outlet) - Remove" for the
    machine that is being serviced.
  • Remove the modulating valve for the torque
    converter impeller clutch. Refer to
  • Disassembly and Assembly, "Modulating Valve
    (Torque Converter Impeller Clutch) - Remove" for
    the machine that is being serviced.
  • Remove the modulating valve for the torque
    converter lockup clutch. Refer to Disassembly
