1
Since the giving of the Great Commission,
thousands of Christian Leaders have attempted to
reach the world for Christ.
2
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached
in the whole world for a witness to all nations,
and then the end shall come. Mt.

INTRODUCING THE MINISTRY OF
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
4
T-Net is an abbreviation. It stands for
Training Network. T-Net is the training network
for disciplemaking churches.
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
Description
Bob Gilliam President of T-Net
5
T-Net is an international Christian training
organization whose mission is To return the
Church to its disciplemaking roots, worldwide.
T-Net was developed by the President and national
staff of the Evangelical Free Church of America
in 1990 under the leadership of Bill Hull. In
1996, T-Net was spun out of the EFCA as a
Daughter ministry, so that it could minister
effectively to many other denominations in
America and around the world. Presently T-Net
has franchises with 6 Christian organizations
whose combined churches total 10,000.
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
HISTORY
Bill Hull Founder of T-Net
6
T-Net was developed because so many churches were
being flagrantly disobedient to the Great
Commission.
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
As you go, make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the Name of The Father and the
Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
all that I have commanded you, and lo I am with
you always, even to the end of the age.
Mt. 2819-20eis
Need
7
Consider The Following Facts (From a survey of
6000 Christians)
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
1.The average Evangelical church in America
only wins 1.67 persons (less than 2) to Christ
and their church each year for every 100
attenders they have. 2. Only 1/3 of church
attenders say they have changed even one habit to
be more Christlike in the last three years. 3.
Less than 50 of church members pray for 5
minutes more than once a week.
Need
8
Continued (From a survey of 6000 Christians)
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
4. 33 of church members state that their
greatest needs are not being met by their
church. 5. Only 11 of church members have
shared the gospel even once in the last
year, and 33 have never shared the gospel
with another person. 6. Most church leaders,
when asked, cannot even define Disciple,
and hardly any have been trained to Make
disciples.
Need
9
In all honesty, few churches achieve these
(disciplemaking) outcomes, largely because they
are not really serious about them. -George
Barna, Growing True Disciples
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
NEED
10
As a result Over 80 of churches in the USA
are plateaued or declining, Biblical illiteracy
is on the rise, commitment is decreasing, and the
average Christian has no goal to become
Christlike or to fulfill the Great Commission.
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
NEED
Bob Gilliam President of T-Net
11
In one recent nationwide survey not one of
the (Christians) we interviewed said that their
goal in life was to be a committed follower of
Jesus Christ or to make disciples of the entire
world - or even their entire block. -George
Barna, Growing True Disciples, pg. 11
12
The facts are clear the church in the United
States is failing dismally in making disciples.
And the situation is even worse in other parts of
the world where 92 of pastors have no training
at all!
13
In a recent email to T-Net, Henry Mumba from
Zambia writes.. I have just come back from
Kaputa. It took me two days to get there. What I
saw amazed me. Church leaders without Bibles in
their languages leading and depending on portions
of scripture they have heard before and praying
for the Holy Spirit to show them through dreams
what to do and teach.
14
We must Return the Church to its disciplemaking
roots, Worldwide !!!
15
But arent other organizations already doing this
effectively ??
Sadly, the answer is 1. Hardly any 2. Not
well 3. Not with a focus on the complete Great
commission 4. Not with a strategy to reach the
entire world
16
While many organizations talk about
disciplemaking and the local church, 1. Hardly
any train leaders how to use the church to do
this. 2. Hardly any train leaders how to
re-structure their church to do this 3.
Hardly any train leaders to make disciples beyond
the point of salvation.
17
In some places the church is growing strongly,
but even there the problem is that of growth
without depth. In short, the church lacks proper
discipleship Our zeal to go wider has not been
matched by a commitment to go deeper. -John
Stott, First International Consultation on
Discipleship, Eastbourne, England.
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
THE PROBLEM
18
Hardly any do disciplemaking training well!
1. Even the Willow Creek and Saddleback
conferences claim to only change 2-5 of
those churches who attend. 2. No other
organization now reporting success in Church
revitalization has a success rate of
over 25-33 (compared to T-Nets rate of 60 -
80)
19
Hardly any focus on the total command !
1. Large numbers of Organizations provide
training only in evangelism, but stop
there. 2. Hardly any organizations train
churches to provide a lifetime of
intentional spiritual growth. 3. Most
organizations are unclear about how to help
Christians grow after only two years of
intentional training.
20
Hardly any have a strategy to complete the Great
Commission
1. Most organizations focus on the activity
of training, but have no strategy to fully
train a disciplemaking pastor or church. 2.
Hardly any organization has a strategy to
complete the Great Commission that goes
beyond evangelism.
21
Philip Flores, Philippines
For the past 25 to 30 years the church has
focused on church growth and church
multiplication, and the results are phenomenal.
But the other side of the harvest field confronts
us. New church starts are not keeping pace with
either actual or potential church growth.
Maturity of new church starts is still a major
issue. The challenge before the church in the new
millenium is no longer church growth, but church
health.
22
Bobby Gupta, Director,
Hindustan Bible Institute
Our churches are a kilometer wide and a
millimeter deep.
23
Discipleship does not happen simply because a
church exists. It occurs when there is an
intentional and strategic thrust to facilitate
spiritual maturity. -George Barna, Growing True
Disciples
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
INTENTIONAL
24
Return the Church to its disciplemaking
roots, Worldwide !!!
25
So, How does the T-Net training process work ?
T-Net has 1. a Developed-country strategy
2. a Third-world strategy
26
In developed countries, T-Net coaches churches
through an intentional process to make them
radically more effective in disciplemaking.
27
There is a tremendous need for a more
intentional focus on the discipleship process and
for definition to the desired outcomes of such a
process. Given the proper motivation, it seems
that most believers would be willing to commit to
a more demanding regimen of spiritual
development. -George Barna, Growing True
Disciples

DEFINITION
28
On the Pathway to Enhanced Disciplemaking, you
will
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
  • Develop your own biblical definition of the
    disciple.
  • Plan and coordinate your church programs to
    create this kind of disciple.
  • Choose curriculum for spiritual growth at all
    maturity levels.
  • Radically enhance evangelism.

M E T H O D
29
On the Pathway to Enhanced Disciplemaking, you
will
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
  • Deploy a disciplemaking small group network.
  • Ratify a disciplemaking philosophy of ministry.
  • Develop a leadership community and multiplication
    by apprenticeships.
  • Improve attraction assimilation.

M E T H O D
30
Most churches do not have the proper
infrastructure to make disciples. They have a
systemic problem.
31
If we hope to make a significant difference in
the lives of individuals and in the nations
culture, then we must increase our
intentionality, our intensity and improve our
strategies. -George Barna, Growing True
Disciples

T-Net uses an approach which trains and
builds a team of leaders in your church over a
long period of time. It is not just a seminar
but a training process to equip and coach leaders
until your church has an ever expanding team of
disciplemakers. -Howard Hendricks, Author, As
Iron Sharpens Iron

35
In third world countries, T-Net partners with
two other world-class training organizations,
(TOPIC and BTCP) and uses a 12-course process to
provide a complete, basic training for
disciplemaking pastors

Example of Training Strategy for International
ministry
1. Start with an appropriate number of training
centers in each country with a ratio of 1
trainer to 20 - 30

pastors. 2. Insist on
commitment of 100 of pastors to train other
pastors, but plan on only 20. 3. 1 generation
12 one-week courses taught 4 - 6 months
apart, four years in all. 4. Each generation

Presently, T-Net has training centers in India,
Philippines, Canada, Zambia, Kazakhstan, Ghana
and Singapore. We plan to open centers soon
in Lesotho, Thailand, Cambodia, Rwanda, Uganda
and Democratic Republic of Congo.
39
But, does T-Net training really work ?
40
The Average Church Completing T-Net in a
developed country...
I N T E R N A T I O N A L
  • Wins 80 more persons to Christ and their church
    a year.
  • Sees 5 times more involvement in intentional
    disciplemaking.
  • Follows an intentional strategy for using every
program in the church to make disciples.
  • Increases financial stewardship.

T-Net understands that the way to grow
healthy, balanced churches is through a
people-building process rather than church
programs. Listen and learn from them. -Rick
Warren, Author of The Purpose Driven Church
