The Porvoo group - reminder

• Creation of the group in April 2002 on initiative
  of PRC and eESC chair
• 4 meetings held so far
• One meeting every 6 months
• Porvoo, Dublin, Oslo, Issy-les-Moulineaux
• Main activities exchange of information on e-ID
  regarding country status, plans, projects,
  practices, experiences made
• Agreement of common resolutions and communications

The Porvoo group added value

• Porvoo is the only European level interest group
  with focus on e-ID
• It has a good EU level representation
• Approx. 19 countries
• Mostly represented by the governmental agency
  responsible for the management of the local e-ID
  deployment / plans / projects
• It is the best group to represent the e-ID
  community in Europe
• Porvoo Group is already recognised by many as the
  right partner to talk to regarding e-ID in Europe
• Profile of participants and level of attendance
  demonstrates high motivation
• Most credible group to promote interoperable e-ID
  in Europe

Support provided by Euclid

• Since April 2002 the e-ID world benefited from
  the activities of the Euclid IST project
• Euclid means European initiative for a Citizen
  ID solution
• Euclid is a project initiated and led by FPRC
• To create awareness and disseminate information
  on electronic identity
• To promote and support consensus making on
  interoperability of e-ID schemes in Europe
• Euclid is funded by the European Commission
  through the IST programme
• To provide professional support
• For 20 months, until November 2003

through Euclid

• There is a need for networking on e-ID questions.
  Porvoo Group one answer!
• The growing awareness of the e-ID situation in
  Europe via the different communication means

  list, setting up the agenda, being as the central
