CT strengths
Strengths
Takes seriously the Great Commission.
Relies on God to change hearts.
Can be done anywhere, anytime with anyone.
13
CT weaknesses
Weaknesses
It goes counter to our culture which is busy,
private, suspicious, bombarded with offers and
ads.
It ignores the power of a relationship to
provide the soil of love and trust in which the
Gospel is more likely to germinate.
It is the most difficult approach for most
people.

Mt. 5
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt
loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty
again? It is no longer good for anything except
to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are
the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot
be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and
put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a
stand, and it gives light to everyone in the
house. In the same way, let your light shine
before men, that they may see your good deeds and
praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 513-16

Relationships are powerful bridges to
transparency trust.
It works. The majority of people who profess
faith continue have done so with the aid of
some positive Christian relationships.
Many who cant (or wont) strike up a
conversation spontaneously do feel comfortable
making friends.

Ten Reasons 10-6
Top Ten Reasons Why We Dont Share
10. Christianity isnt real to us.
9. Weve come to believe that its private, and
none of our business.
8. We really dont believe that people are lost.
7. We really dont believe that people matter to
God.
6. Were afraid that we wont have the answers
and will look stupid.
23
Ten Reasons 5-1
Top Ten Reasons Why We Dont Share
5. We dont really care about others.
4. Were afraid of what others might think of
us, or afraid of losing friends.
3. We think its someone elses responsibility.
2. Were too busy with our own lives to get
involved with others.
1. We feel ashamed of who we really are, and
think we have no right to say anything to anyone
about God.

You deserve a break today! the TV sings. From
all sides, the message rings, You owe it to
yourself! We are constantly blasted with
attractive options for career, shelter,
transport, clothing, recreation and relaxation.
The result is that we pursue material things
without limit, having become victims of the
looking out for 1 mindset. In the middle of
this noise we miss the cries of millions who have
no idea why they live, why they suffer, or who
made them. They wonder if an eternity exists,
and in dark, solitary moments, they wish to a God
they don't know that they weren't born. Millions
slip quietly into an eternity without Christ
while we go about ridding ourselves of
inconveniences. Unfortunately, those people
become victims of our comfort. Few people would
say that comfort itself is evil. That's not the
issue.
33
Sidders b
The issue is What effect does comfort have on
our lives, and what role does comfort have in our
decision-making processes, and how do our
decisions about comfort affect those whose only
hope for eternal life in Christ depends on our
reaching out to share ourselves? We arent
supposed to make decisions based on what feels
good. Christ would never have gone to the cross
had that been a major criterion, and there is a
good chance that many of us would not have a
personal relationship with Christ had not someone
been willing to do the inconvenient. It is
blunt and uncomfortable, but the issue must be
faced What is more significant my desire for
personal comfort or a persons almost
incomprehensible need to know Christ and avoid an
eternity in hell?
34
Sidders c
If we Christians are really going to
revolutionize the world with the message of
Christ, then there has to be a lot more
dying. Greg Sidders

1Tim. 21-4
I urge, then, first of all, that requests,
prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made
for everyone for kings and all those in
authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet
lives in all godliness and holiness. This is
good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all
men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of
the truth. 1 Timothy 21-4

1Peter211-12
Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and
strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful
desires, which war against your soul. Live such
good lives among the pagans that, though they
accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good
deeds and glorify God on the day He visits
us. 1 Peter 211-12

For better or worse, the life a Christian lives
in the presence of those he seeks to win is a
preview of what the non-Christians life will
become if he accepts what he is hearing.
Generally, he will decide either to accept or
reject Christianity according to what he has
seen. Evangelism as a Lifestyle, Jim Peterson

1Peter 315-16
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone
who asks you to give the reason for the hope that
you have. But do this with gentleness and
respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that
those who speak maliciously against your good
behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their
slander. 1 Peter 315-16

Mark 216-17
When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees
saw him eating with the sinners and tax
collectors, they asked his disciples, Why does
he eat with tax collectors and sinners? On
hearing this, Jesus said to them, It is not the
healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have
not come to call the righteous, but
sinners. Mark 216-17
