computer equipment, transportation equipment,
food manufacturing, plastics all have added
jobs in the past year.

11As we look out over the next decade, were
expecting to add about 25,000 jobs per year.
12But in addition, well need to fill about 40,000
replacement openings, every year.
New workers will be needed across almost all
industries, even those that are growing slowly,
or even declining.
13Many of the new jobs will be at the lower end of
the wage spectrum but over 300,000 new jobs will
be medium and high wage.
14STATEWIDE OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
- Oregon will need two-thirds of a million new
workers in the next ten years to fill new
positions and those vacated by retirees and
others. - For every opening caused by growth in the
economy, two openings will be caused by
retirements and the like. - All broad occupational groups are projected to
grow in the next ten years. - Health care occupations will be the fastest
growing office and administrative support will
add the most jobs.
