Ultramarine Ash Pigment
The residuum of lapis lazuli after the
ultramarine has been extracted. It was used by
the old masters as a middle or neutral tint for
flesh, skies, and draperies, being of a purer and
tenderer gray than that produced by the mixture
of more positive colors.

is a modification of cobalt aluminate blue spinel

about 290 to 900 C.E., is a remarkable pigment
based on a blue dye precipitated onto clay.

roasting cobalt and tin oxides. Cobalt blue

Volkonskoite is a chromium-bearing mineral found
in clay-bearing sandstones. We get our deep
forest green pigment from mineral sources near
the village of Efimiata in the Perm Basin,
Russia.
