  • Read the following lines and note examples of
    high-level diction, alliteration, assonance, and
    consonance on your paper.
  • Slow the low gradual moan came in the snowing.
  • Shall ever medicine thee to that sweet sleep.

    couldve recounted that definition, but do you
    know any examples? Take a few seconds to jot
    some down.

  • Why the heck do I need all of this figurative
    language anyway?
  • Emphasis
  • Freshness of expression
  • Clarity
  • Take a second to think about how figurative
    language helps with each of these.
  • Now take a second to think about how figurative
    language might confuse peopleespecially those
    who dont speak your own language. This may be a
    way to help you spot figurative language in
    poetry.
  • However, it is still a very effective tool to
    have in your belt. (Did you catch it?) -)
