  • Trade in wool and banking had made Florence rich!
  • Church had lost its luster (see Great Schism)
  • If you got it, spend it! Medicis in Florence
    were loaded!

    athlete, poet, student. Also, sprezzatura.
  • Machiavellis The Prince demonstrated how noble
    princes should lead
