IO-ISR Goals for this Workshop
  • IO topics
  • Computer network attack and defense,
  • Modeling of IO in exercise and training,
  • Threats to the Internet and communications
    infrastructures
  • Alternatives to classic force-on-force combat.
  • ISR topics
  • representation of the different intelligence
disciplines (e.g, SIGINT, IMINT, HUMINT, etc.)
  • the associated Tasking, Processing Exploitation
and Dissemination (TPED) systems and processes
associated with the delivery of intelligence
    products to the warfighter.

3
Key Points
  • There is continued interest in IO-ISR
  • Progress being made in realistic portrayal of ISR
    in Training Exercise events
  • Need to focus some energy on where there may be a
    need for Standards

4
Key Point 1 There is continued interest in
IO-ISR
  • Explanation
  • Despite overall lower attendance at SIW, interest
in IO-ISR continues to be high
  • Forum continues to be an information exchange and
    opportunity to expose leading-edge initiatives,
such as Infrastructure Protection (Papers 063
    112)
  • Recommendation
  • Continue the IO-ISR Forum
  • Highlight in Call for Papers that this is a home
for topics such as Homeland Defense,
    Infrastructure Protection, NCW, EBO, etc.

5
Key Point 2 Progress being made in realistic
portrayal of ISR in Training Exercise events
  • Explanation
  • IEWTPT papers (008 009) show advances in
Enhancing Attributes and Filtering of Game Space
    to
  • Provide more realistic Intel Reports to training
audience in a more timely fashion
  • Recommendation IEWTPT could help lead to
    development of procedural standards defining
HOW to best provide realistic ISR portrayal (as
opposed to mechanical standards that we
    typically focus on)

6
Key Point 3 Need to focus some energy on where
there may be a need for IO-ISR Standards
  • Explanation
  • Several years running, IO-ISR provides a
well-attended forum for visibility of efforts
  • But little to no discussion yet on topic areas
needing standards let alone effort in that
    regard.
  • Recommendation
  • Put out call for volunteers to participate in
e-mail discussions regarding topic areas for
    standards
  • Utilize IO-ISR reflector (which has had little
    other use to date)
