Collagen Glue Set
The Collagen Glue Set contain four different
collagen glues. The set is especially useful for
exploring the function, strength and behavior of
different glues in grounds and painting
mediums.Animal glues vary in strength, but rabbit
skin glue usually offers the highest strength,
viscosity and elasticity.

Slaked Lime (Calcium Hydroxide)
Calcium hydroxide, traditionally called slaked
lime, hydrated lime or pickling lime, is a soft
white powder and obtained when calcium oxide
(called lime or quicklime) is mixed or "slaked"
with water. The name of the natural mineral is
portlandite. A suspension of fine calcium
hydroxide particles in water is called milk of
lime.

Glycerin (also called glycerol) is a plasticizer
and humectant that is added to glues and starches
to make them more flexible and prevent cracking.
Makes watercolor wetter and last longer on the
palette.

Formaldehyde (Formalin)
Formaldehyde (also called Formalin) is a 4
solution of formaldehyde to harden gesso and
chalk grounds and glue sizing on canvas or
panels. The spray bottle has a fine misting pump
spray. Spray formaldehyde solution onto freshly
applied gesso or chalk grounds made with collagen
glue (animal or fish glue) as the binder.

Fumed silica (also called pyrogenic silica) is a
hydrophilic silica with a specific surface of 200
square meters per gram. Add to thicken and
increase the transparency of paint. 1 quart (946
