• Young, standing Taras Shevchenko in full stature,
  dressed in a long coat, which was a standard in
  the era of the poet and writer. The figure is
  looking into the distance.
• Height -- 3 metres, weight - 630 kilograms.
• Complementing Composition -- Taras is surrounded
  by artistic creations from his poetry -- three
  bas-relief figures

• Prominent Ukrainian-Canadian sculptor Leo Mol
  (his full name is Leonid Molodozhanyn) born 1915
  in Ukraine, town of Polonne (today in Volyn
  Oblast).
• In 1948, moved to Canada with his wife Margareth,
  lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba
• Among his creations
• Famous "Leo Mol Sculpture Garden" - a site that
  houses and displays more than 300 of his
  creations.
• Statues of Shevchenko in St. Petersburg,
  Washington DC
• In Ottawa statue of former Prime Minister John
  Diefenbaker on Parliament Hill.

  (Baseline Road), at Prince of Wales Drive.
• Near Rideau River (a symbolical reminder of the
  Dnipro River).
• Can accommodate large gatherings of people with
  land space and parking, and is free from future
  development.
• Location within the jurisdiction of the church. 
• This helped substantially to eliminate such
  bureaucratic issues as getting rights and permits
  from the City of Ottawa, National Capital
  Commission.
