About HiSoftware
  • HiSoftwares solutions empower organizations to
create and manage corporate standards for
    Accessibility, Usability, Searchability, Privacy
    Policy and custom quality factors.
  • HiSoftwares solutions enable organizations to
quickly and efficiently build, deploy, and
maintain highly dynamic, accessible, usable and
searchable Web sites regardless of content, type,
    format, or location.
  • HiSoftware's Proven Solutions for content test
and management dramatically reduce the time
required to test, manage and deploy e-business
    Web sites.

8
To whom is this important? Corporate and Federal
9
States and Universities
10
Defining the Problem
  • Many organizations have fallen prey to the
    exponential growth of electronic information
because their documents are scattered about
    individual PC's, workgroups, and entire
enterprises with little or no controls in place
to monitor content for compliance with corporate
    standards for Accessibility, Privacy,
    Searchability and Usability.
  • When these standards can be structured and
implemented they have great value. However,
implementing a solution to accomplish this task
has been cost-prohibitive to most organizations.

11
Designing the Solution
  • Content quality testing solutions should provide
a combination of user-driven interactive desktop
solutions that allow developers to test their
content for conformance with standards, and
server side applications that allow for automated
    and remote testing.
  • They should also provide a comprehensive
interface for testing content against standards
for Accessibility, searchability and any custom
    content quality factor, allowing an
organizations experts and/or policy managers to
define content policies and then provide a
solution to validate compliance with these
    policies.

12
Keep up with ever-changing Web technologies and
standards
  • Users should be able to
  • Test for Accessibility Usability Section 508,
WCAG 1.0, WCAG 2.0, CLF, XAG any standard
derived from WCAG or Section 508
  • Test for compliance with custom guidelines and
policies for all content including but not
limited to HTML, XHTML, SVG, XML and any other
    text or element based content
  • Accomplish Custom validation for  CSS, XSL, SVG,
JavaScript, VBScript, and other text or element
    based content

13
Site Quality Factors
  • Accessibility and Usability
  • Searchability
  • Privacy and Exposure
  • Site Quality-User Experience
  • Site Quality-Broken Links
  • Metadata Policy
  • Custom Checks-Corporate Standards

14
Metadata Policy
  • Metadata provides information about a document
that identifies it for proper indexing, search
and retrieval. Content Managers should be able to
Verify Compliance to your internal or global
    policies.

15
What is Meant by the Quality of a Web Record?
  • Quality of the Web Record Content
  • Accessibility, conformance to policy, accuracy
  • Quality of the Web Record Structure
  • Conformance to metadata standards
  • Ensuring the integrity of the document
  • Is this the original document

Custom Checks-Corporate Standards
  • Custom checks allow users to ensure that diverse
document authors create and maintain content that
meets with the common look and feel for the
corporate Web presence, and that all content
    complies with organizational standards and
    policies.

Validation can be automated
The user selects options for email reports, like
the failed files only option, and creates a
list of recipients.
26
Monitoring the Web
Users can create and monitor Webs on-demand via
the Web interface. The software administrator
can create users and groups with unique access
rights. Or the logon procedure can be disabled,
allowing all users the same privileges.
27
Developing a Strategy for Content quality
  • A Content quality and accessibility strategy
should give you the ability to view policy
    implementation from a project management
perspective. This will enable you to
  • Allocate resources appropriately
  • Track site progress
  • Identify problem areas
  • Integrate content quality into your Quality
    Assurance and content delivery processes
  • Keep a historical view of your Web site work.

28
The Web Project Life Cycle
  • Phases of the Web project life cycle
  • Plan
  • Develop
  • Test
  • Deploy
  • Monitor
  • Incorporating Content quality into the project
  • Develop a policy for creation, validation and
monitoring of content that complies with policies
  • Educate-all members of the team
  • Empower the developers and QA team with testing
    tools
  • Empower Web Managers and administrators with
tools to monitor the effective implementation of
    the policy

verified in batch. The Summary Report includes
overview graphs, and a listing of files that
passed and files that failed with links to all
Detail/Checklist Reports.

Detail Reports
Every Web file has a Combined detail and
checklist report that shows exactly why a file
failed compliance and the rules used to create
the report.
34
Additional Reports include Alt text quality

Recorder Capabilities
  • The Recorder is HiSoftware technology for
tracking compliance efforts. Using the Recorder,
    the user can
  • Identify the status of a Web project on demand
for a specific point in time via the History
    feature
  • Track the progress of the project over time via
    the History feature
  • Isolate Web accessibility information by Web
    elements, accessibility status, and advanced
    custom rules

38
AccMonitor
  • AccMonitor verifies compliance for live Web files
and allows users to configure the program using
the server-based software or the Web-based
    interface
  • Runs as a Windows service
  • No file or server access required
  • Send email reports to multiple recipients
  • Options allow the user to generate reports only
for files that fail compliance verification or
    for all files checked
  • Includes the same dynamic reporting functionality
    as other HiSoftware acc products
  • Collaborate with other users on your team by
sharing results in a central location

39
Monitoring the Web
The user schedules the Web for daily, weekly, or
monthly monitoring. The Autorun Schedule can
export to History and purge the recorder database
automatically.

Conclusions
  • Content Quality testing solutions should create
and capture all of the tests that users run
against their Web content. This enables users to
  • Identify the compliance status of a Web project
on demand for a specific point in time
  • Track the progress of the project over time via
    the History feature
  • Work Collaboratively with team members to ensure
    compliance with all standards
