2Ever wish you had a better way to tell all the
people around you about Jesus and how much God
loves them?
To help them really experience the loving mercy
and grace of Jesus Christ in a close, personal
way?
And those that are struggling just to make ends
meet ever wish you could do more to help them?
Would you like your church to be an even brighter
light for Christ right here in
Grayson County?
3Sharing Christ through Works of Love
and Words of Truth
Project CrossWalk
Very simple it exists to
connect churches that want to help
with the people that
need the help.
4- About Project CrossWalk
- Local grass-roots
- Christian-based
- Non-profit
- Non-denominational
- Incorporated (in State of Texas)
- On-going, year-round
- Full of exciting potential!
5PCW has two very specific purposes 1)
to help people that are truly in need with
repairs around their homes, and 2) to tell
them about Jesus in the process.
The 2nd part is by far the most important, and
works so well when we show the love in the 1st
part.
Jesus is our example meeting physical needs as
a means to meet spiritual needs. It opens the
door.
6Heres how it works
PCW is contacted with a home, yard or auto repair
need - via phone, website or referral.
We send a Project Screener by the house to meet
the person, assess and prioritize the need, and
do initial project planning, including a list of
materials.
The project data is entered into PCW database
(secure part of the website) by PCW Data Entry.
A summary of the project is listed on a website
page that anyone can access (basic details, no
names).
7Projects listed here
8The project summary will have
- Description of the project
- Approx number of volunteers needed
- Estimated length of time to complete
- And some photos that show the need
The intent is to identify those in our community
that dont have the resources to make needed
repairs, such as the elderly, single mothers,
struggling families.
Then any church group or volunteer team that
wants to help can contact Project CrossWalk
for further
details!
9This gives a church an open door anytime during
the year to a family in our community that needs
help physically, and more than likely
spiritually, as well.
The church can then share with them how to come
to God through Jesus Christ in whatever manner
they choose.
All PCW asks is that the church does pray and
share with the family and that
the core truths of
the Gospel be explained.
10- Project CrossWalk gets the project ready
- Screening
- Assessment
- Prioritizing
- Planning
- Preparing
The Work Team (church group or other volunteers)
meets the physical and spiritual needs, ministers
to the family, and completes the connection.
11Heres what a Work Team would do
- Designate your own Contact team organizer /
promoter - Discuss the project details with a rep from PCW
- Agree to these essentials
- Pray with the persons being helped
- Give them a Bible if they dont have one
- Share with them the basics about becoming a
Christian - Invite them to your church, or recommend another
- Purchase the materials for the job using funds
from - Homeowner first, if he or she is able,
- Donations from your church (or team) second, or
- PCW account, if not available otherwise
- Make the repairs!
- Fill out a couple of simple forms.
And let God do the rest.
12The dream is that all churches will work together
as one Body in loving our neighbors and bringing
our community to Christ.
That people in need will truly see the love of
God through the hands and feet of His children.
And that God will bless the works of His church.
You can help us get there one need at a time.
13So, heres how your church can get started
- First, please pray for PCW and the local
churches - Then, choose someone within your church to be
your - main PCW Contact (can be more than one)
- Recruit Project Screeners for PCW they are key
- Recruit Volunteer Teams within your church
- Be ready projects should show up soon!
- And also, consider supporting Project CrossWalk
- with donations
- PCW will maintain a fund for materials, when
needed - Very low overhead all volunteer at this point
- Some website hosting costs, but very low
- The vast majority of any and all donations will
be used for - materials to help those that cant afford the
repairs
14Your PCW Contact
- Project CrossWalk will only succeed by teaming
and networking with churches that want to reach
out into the community and make a difference. - The key person to get your church involved is
your PCW Contact - Member of your church with a heart for the
community - Keeps in touch with PCW, attends occasional
rallies - Knows how to use the website
ProjectCrossWalk.org - Communicates with your church on PCW status
- Organizes your volunteers and work teams !!!
- Ensures the program is working for your church
Getting the PCW Contact or Contacts (can be more
than one) identified for your church is the first
step. We are asking that your staff and your
church body pray about who might fill this vital
role, and contact us with a name(s), email
address and phone number. Thank you in advance
for your prayers ... they are so important. Who
knows ... God may have someone in mind that you
personally know very, very well !
15The Project Screener
- The first contact with someone in need is a
critical part of building that relationship. - The Project Screener provides this initial
personal interaction - Good communicator will be setting the ministry
in motion - Sensitive to the physical and spiritual needs of
the person(s) - Will pray with the person find out some
personal information - Will use the PCW Assessment Form to prioritize
the need - Should know how to make basic home repairs
- Will estimate materials needed, using back of
Assessment Form - Will leave a handout or CD about Jesus with the
family
All of this is so important that the Project
Screener must truly feel Gods leading to take on
this responsibility. The information entered
into the database defines and prioritizes the
need, and provides the groundwork for whatever
volunteer group ends up ministering to this
person or family. Could be a shared-talentteam
approach two Project Screeners working
together on a project is actually
recommended. Project CrossWalk is actively
seeking PCW Project Screeners right now. The
goal is to have 7 trained Screener teams in place
before actively seeking projects and advertising
the ministry. We pray that there is someone in
your church that God will lead to step out on
faith, and fill this exciting position!
16The Volunteers !!!
- The whole concept of Project CrossWalk will never
be possible without the hearts and hands of
Gods people, putting the love of Christ into
action. - To be a Volunteer is simple. You must want to
- Help people unconditionally
- Give your time as an offering to God
- Truly make a difference to change the
community - Use your strength and skills its sometimes
hard work ! - Use your heart and soul people need to hear
about Christ - Take His love outside the walls of your church !
Sharing Christ through Works of Love and Words
of Truth is the main purpose and the goal of
each volunteer. The open door to tell others
about God, pray with them, leave them a Bible,
invite them to church thats what makes PCW
different. Watch the PCW website for project
ministry opportunities. Talk about it in your
Bible Study classes, Sunday School, or home
groups build a TEAM of volunteers. Talk to your
Church PCW Contact tell him or her that you
want to be involved and then get involved! And
once again let God do the rest!
17Supporting PCW
- Your time and energy is a precious gift in our
combined effort to reach this community for
Christ. There is no other way for Project
CrossWalk to be successful without YOU. - But there is one more way that your church can
make a difference. - By supporting this ministry through a monetary
gift to PCW - All gifts will be deposited in a secure PCW
checking account - All expenses will be itemized and available upon
request - The gifts will be used to support the ministry
in this order - To purchase materials when people cant afford
them - To purchase certain tools for repairs, only as
needed - To maintain a stock of Bibles as gifts to
families - With website, software, paper, printer ink, misc
costs
Project CrossWalk pledges to treat all donations
as the Lords money, and to focus on helping
those truly in need. We know there will be people
that just cant afford materials to make the
repairs and often the volunteering churches
cant either. To maximize the effectiveness of
this ministry, and fully reach out into our
community, there must be a source of monetary
help. Churches breaking down denominational
barriers to support this common cause of Sharing
Christ through Works of Love and Words of Truth
will make a difference. We ask that you pray as a
church about supporting Project Crosswalk with
some monthly gift. Help us reach out
together.
18Why Should We Get Involved?
- The Church is the Light, the Salt, the Body of
Christ, called to spread the Good News around the
world through Love (verb). - If your church becomes an active part of this
exciting ministry it will - Be given opportunities to unconditionally love
- Have doors opened to share the Gospel of Christ
- Grow closer inside by reaching outside, by
working together - Build your Body as you invite new people to
visit your church - Experience the love and mercy of God in a close,
personal way - Join forces with other churches theres power
in numbers ! - And help people see His Church for what it
really is
19Insurance Liability
Project CrossWalk has no insurance of its own to
cover liability concerns, but depends on each
Work Team to have its own coverage. Typical
church insurance covers off-site volunteer group
work, as long as the workers are directly
associated with that church (members or
guests). PCW encourages any volunteer Work Team
to check with their church to ensure such
coverage exists, or discuss insurance coverage
with a registered agent.
