• To enhance and facilitate student exchange
  between the ConRuhr universities and various
  American academic institutions
• To improve the network between American
  academics and academics from the ConRuhr
  universities

• Contract between the universities in Bochum,
  Dortmund and Duisburg-Essen to form a consortium
  to support an academic liaison office in New York
• Contract with DAAD and startup funds from the
  Initiativkreis Ruhrgebiet
• Establishment of a Konsortialrat which oversees
  the activities of the office and provides general
  guidelines for its operation
• Election of Abraham van Veen (University of
  Dortmund) as Coordinator of legal and operational
  activities and liaison to the Akademische
  Auslandsämter of the ConRuhr universities
• Hiring of Dr. LeeAnn Renninger (Ph.D.in
  Psychology from the University in Vienna ,
  experience with DAAD) as Executive Director of
  the office
• Hiring of Prof.Dr.Dr.h.c. Rolf Kinne, former
  director at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular
  Physiology in Dortmund, as Director of the
  ConRuhr office.
• Incorporation of ConRuhr as non-for profit
  organisation in the United States
