What is Wireless Charging How Does it Work?
Introduction
The world is moving towards charging
devices wirelessly. With Apple adopting the Qi
standard, every smartphone manufacturer is
following suite and embraced this technology in
their new models. So what is this hype all about
and what should we look forward to? Allow us to
explain wireless charging and how it works

What is charging
Wireless Charging as the name suggests is
a simply way of charging your device wirelessly
without using a cable to plug into the device.
You dont need to fight with tangles cables or
wires, but simply place your device like a
smartphone on the surface of the wireless charger
to begin charging.
  • New smartphone models like iPhone X, iPhone 8
    Plus, iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy S9, S8, S8 Plus,
Note 8 among other support wireless charging i.e
these phone have wireless charging feature built
within the phone. Check this list to know if your
    phone compatible to wireless charging
  • Smartphone that do not support wireless charging
can experience the convenience by using a third
party case or a receiver that allow users to
    charge wirelessly.

How does Wireless Charging work?
There are coils in the wireless charger
and similar coils can be found on the back of the
smartphone /charging case/receiver. When the
wireless charging pad is plugged to the mains,
the alternating current (AC) gives rise to
varying magnetic field which makes your wireless
charging pad as the source. You can place your
smartphone on top of the charger. Th coil in the
charger and the coil inside your phone are now on
close to one another. The electromagnetic field
created in the charger now transfers energy to
the coil on your smartphone. This energy is then
converted to the electric current that charges
your smartphones battery.

Conclusion
In a very easy explanation, wireless
charging uses electromagnetic fields in one
device to induce an electric current into a coil
inside another device. This current powers the
battery and your device gets charged
