The International Max Planck Research School for
Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences in Munich,
Germany, jointly conducted by the Max Planck
Institutes of Biochemistry, Neurobiology and
Psychiatry in cooperation with the Ludwig
Maximilian University Munich and the Technical
University Munich, has launched a PhD program in
Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences. The

Masters training in Neuroscience is offered at
UPMC (Université Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris
6), located in the center of Paris, France. The
program covers all fundamental and clinical areas
of Neuroscience, from the molecular to the
behavioral levels. More than 100 research teams
located in the best Neuroscience Institutes of
the Paris area are associated with the Masters
program for practical training (3 months in M1, 6
months in M2). Students can enter the program
either at Master 1 (M1) or Master 2 (M2) levels,
depending on their prior level of study.
Possibilities for M2 students to follow their
program in English. Possibilities for Masters
students to apply for the Paris Ph.D. Program in
Neuroscience.
M1 (first year) Semester 1 Coursework covering
fundamentals in physiology, plus an introduction
to laboratory techniques Semester 2 Lectures in
molecular, cellular, and behavioral neurobiology
Laboratory course in specific neuroscience
techniques 3 months of laboratory research
M2 (second year) Semester 1 Students follow
Coursework in one of the two main programs 1)
Cellular and Integrated Neuroscience, or 2)
Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. Semester
2 6-month laboratory research project, with a
written report and an oral defense.

Department of Neuroscience
The Department of Neuroscience and MRC Centre for
Neurodegenerative disease offer MSc and PhD
degrees in Neuroscience. A minimum IELTS score
of 7.0, or a computer-based TOEFL score of 250
(paper-based score 600), is required. The MSc
programme provides multi-disciplinary
post-graduate training in neuroscience,
particularly in subjects relevant to psychiatry
and neurology. It is offered either 1 year
full-time or 2 years part-time. PhDs in the
MRC Centre for Neurodegeneration Research focus
on two neurodegenerative diseases Alzheimers
disease and motor neurone disease. The PhD
theses are submitted within 3 years. Fees are
4,500 for EU students and 11,000 p.a. for
