A GUIDE TO BUYING SELFIE DRONES

  • Love them or hate them, selfies are taking over
the world and, if youre a fan, theres now a
bunch of really great options out there. Some of
the latest advances in drone tech has made these
selfie drones much easier to use and are even
light enough and small enough to fit in your bag.
  • Imagine being able to take an image of yourself
from above without all that awkward arm
stretching and squinting, or from any angle that
would be hard or impossible with a regular
camera. With drones, the possibilities for epic
    selfies are limitless!

3
  • That being said, drones can still be tricky to
use, so thinking carefully about what kind of
drone you want to buy is essential. Youd be
right to assume that the more money you pay for a
drone, the better it will perform, but deciding
what you want to use the drone for, will help
make the decision a little easier. Here are few
things you might want to consider before you
    purchase a drone
  • The size and weight of the drone
  • This is an important point to consider if youre
likely to want to carry the drone around with you
wherever you go. A drone that is able to be
compacted, such as with folding arms, will fit
into your bag much more easily, and of course if
    its

4
  • light, it wont weigh you down. However, do be
careful as drones that are compact and light, may
give you less of the other functions.
  • The quality of the video and images
  • For drones, youll need to decide on whether you
want 4k or 1080p video but if youll be using
your drone mainly for selfie shots then you wont
really need 4k. Most drones, apart from the
costly ones like the DJI Mavic, use electronic
stabilization for video taking, which basically
means that videos are cut or cropped to create a
shot that is stable. This doesnt always give the
best effect, so even if you go for a 1080p rather
than a 4k, the result may still not be that great.

5
  • Flight modes
  • Every drone manufacturer will have an opinion on
the modes that their drones offer, but the most
important thing is to remember what you will
mainly be using the drone for, and let that guide
you as you browse the many models on sale.
  • For example, if your priority is to take selfies,
the ability to fly quickly away and take a shot
is important. An orbit mode is also useful as it
enables you to take circular shots of yourself or
    a group.
  • The ability of a drone to be able to land in your
hand once youve finished flying it, is another
consideration most have a return to home mode,
    but not all have the

6
  • capacity to be able to land in your hand, and
this can be problematic depending on the
    environment that youre in.
  • The life of the battery
  • If youre going to be using your drone a lot,
then its battery will need to be recharged or
changed often. For a few shots one fully charged
battery is sufficient, but be warned that drones
with longer flight times are often larger and
less compact as they require larger battery packs.

best friend, so consider the options
  • carefully before purchasing yours!
