Buying Tips for Different Types of Exhausts
  • According to Size
  • When choosing an exhaust flex pipe for your
vehicle, it is imperative that you choose the one
that matches the tailpipe of the vehicle, both
for aesthetic and functional purposes. You can
choose the right sized exhaust based on inlet and
outlet size as well as length. In the case of
inlet size, the exhaust tips inlet size should
match the diameter of the tailpipe. In the case
of outlet size, you need to ensure that exhaust
tips outlet size clears the cutout area to
prevent any damage to the vehicle. The length of
the exhaust should also be long enough to vent
out the gasses safely but not too long that it
    starts to scrape the ground.

  • According to Shape
  • You may choose an exhaust crossover pipe based on
its shape as well. While sizing affects
performance, the shape of the exhaust is purely
visual and depends on individual preferences.
Some of the more common exhaust shapes
individuals opt for include round, oval, square,
    and dual exhausts.

  • According to Style
  • When choosing a direct flex pipe, it is also
important to consider the exhaust style, i.e. the
way the exhaust will be fitted onto the vehicle.
There are two styles of exhaust, in this case,
the clamp on style and the weld on style. The
weld style involves welding the exhaust tip into
its place inside the tailpipe. Although they are
expensive to install, maintain, and repair, they
are more secure and resistant to theft. Clamp on
exhaust tips, on the other hand, can be fitted
onto the vehicle with just a wrench. Although
they can be easily switched or replaced and are
cheaper than weld on exhaust tips, they are prone
    to vibrations and theft.

  • According to Materials
  • You will need to choose an exhaust resonator pipe
that is stylish and durable. This largely depends
on the material used to make the pipe. An exhaust
tip can be made from different materials like
chrome and stainless steel. Chrome exhaust tips
are affordable and give a shiny look to the
exhaust. However, they are not resistant to rust.
Stainless steel exhausts, on the other hand, are
more resistant to rust and offer a mirror-like
shine. However, they cost more than chrome
    exhausts.
